About

A Foreign Country is an illustrated newsletter about the past that is inspired by remnants of time and place that I find in old newspapers, photos, and movies.

It takes its name from the quote above.

How did it start?

I started doing these drawings while doing research for another project—a graphic novel based on a diary written by my great-aunt in 1921. Work in progress from that project is likely to make an appearance here, too.
